Known Issues
- The VCP plugin supports autonomous attach and detach of ESXi hosts to Lightbits nodes, as Lightbits nodes or ESXi hosts become available. The VCP plugin also handles the remediation of any attachment failures between Lightbits nodes and ESXi hosts. This periodic logic requires the configuration of a username and password of a vSphere user with adequate permissions. If that user’s credentials are changed, a notification is shown - but only when accessing the plugin UI (rather than at the time of detection of the mismatch).
- Sporadic “Can’t find hardware.systemInfo.qualifiedName for Host” errors, which can be resolved by rebooting the ESXi host. These can fail volume attach or Datastore creation.
- Updating a QoS policy to be the default policy will fail when using a Lightbits 2.3.16 cluster. Subsequent updates of this QoS policy will also fail. Please see Lightbits Errata LBM1-20183 in the Lightbits Known Issues documentation for additional information.
- The reported size of a Datastore created from a snapshot might be slightly smaller than the size of the original backing volume of the Datastore (this is due to the vSphere SDK providing a size that doesn’t exactly match a volume size).
- When navigating from a Datastore summary to a snapshot listing, filtering may occasionally not work.
- When repeatedly editing a volume and updating its ACL at a high rate, the Edit Volume operation may fail (a subsequent new edit operation will succeed).
- The Snapshot Job page may require a manual refresh after the job has completed to update the values correctly in the page.
Supported Platforms
Lightbits Cluster Version:
- 2.3.16
- 3.0.1
vCenter Version:
- 7.0 U3
ESXi Version:
- 7.0 U3
Supported Web Browsers
An ESXi host may not generate a unique UUID on certain hardware platforms (e.g., older Supermicro servers). The plugin requires a unique host UUID for correct Datastore operations. This may lead to failures in the following operations: Create datastore, Attach datastore, De-attach datastore, and Create snapshot from datastore. The Host pane in the plugin will show the ESXi host UUID and allow users to check for non unique UUIDs.
- Google Chrome version 89.0.x (+)
- Mozilla Firefox version 87.0 (+)
