Storage Provisioning Recommendations

The following storage provisioning recommendations are provided to help you better work with private cloud configurations.

For additional details on the statistics related to these best practices, see Appendix A: Common Statistics.

Do not over-provision more than 20% of the effective physical cluster capacity (see lbcli get cluster effectivePhysicalStorage in Appendix A: Common Statistics).
Ensure that each node's free space exceeds the size of one drive, to prevent read-only mode in case of drive loss.
Ensure that cluster capacity can withstand a single node failure or volumes will not rebuild to degraded.
Optional: Keep a spare drive slot available to increase capacity if needed; otherwise, capacity can only be increased by adding nodes.
